Human perceptions in the workplace

The impact of Perception on Human connections in the workplace

In the Team/Leadership workshops I deliver, I often ask each member of the group to identify someone they would like to improve their working relationship with- they don’t need to name them out loud- I then ask….

  • What is your perception is of this person?
  • How do you know this perception is true, accurate and up to date?
  • How do you think they perceive you?
  • How might these perceptions impact the way you behave towards each other?

It’s really interesting to see people reflect on this and discuss how it might help improve working together.

In recent years I’ve noticed that Perception is often viewed as less ‘easy’ or ‘accurate’ in virtual settings but wasn’t sure if that was actually the case so I went looking for some research. Found this on BPS site – food for thought, so I thought I’d share
